Early College Morning Routine

Writer: Rachel NRachel N

Did you get stuck with 8am classes? Me too. I love the idea of a long routine in the morning, but I simply cannot get up early enough to make that happen. Here is what I do instead. If you have more ideas, dm @balancedandeducated on Instagram and I'll make the edit.

6am: wake up and drink water. I keep a cup of water by my bed and chug when I wake up. Then, I throw on a podcast or inspiring music.

6:05: bathroom, take out retainer, literally just try to wake up.

6:10: stretches and meditation, journaling, or another mindful habit

6:30: get dressed and ready (this includes makeup and hair).

6:50: breakfast

7:10: pack up (pack lunch the night before), hype up song

7:30: leave for class (bonus points if you walk!)

Other tips:

  1. I'm typically anxious in the morning, so I take a theanine supplement (all natural anxiety relief). Theanine can be found here: Spring Valley Theanine Amino Acid Supplement, Unflavored, 1 Capsule, 100 Count - Walmart.com

  2. To get my morning movement, I walk to class (about a mile) and listen to uplifting music. It is a great substitute for my morning workouts.

  3. I'm working on packing my lunch the night before and even setting out clothes so I have more time to relax in the morning.

  4. I LOVE sad music, but I try to stick to my hype playlist in the morning.
